HOUSTON, TX – A young child died and two others, including an infant, were injured after a multi-vehicle crash on Eastex Freeway Wednesday morning.
According to a report by KTRK, the accident took place sometime before noon in the northbound lanes of the freeway near Laura Koppe Road.
Preliminary investigation suggests the 23-year-old female driver of a Chevrolet Traverse swerved to avoid striking debris left from a prior crash when her vehicle was hit by a Ford Taurus.
A 3-year-old passenger in the Chevrolet was rushed to Texas Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A 4-month-old child in the car remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The 79-year-old male driver in the Ford suffered a broken leg in the crash and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
