News Update: HCSO releases more info on fatal car-vs.-bike crash on Little York

HOUSTON, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the driver who struck and killed a bicyclist early Tuesday morning.

According to deputies, Reynaldo Mendiola was driving a white Ford F-150 east on W. Little York Rd at around 1 a.m., while the bicyclist was riding east in the inside lane. Mendiola struck the bicyclist, who was thrown onto the ground.

The bicyclist died at the scene.

Mendiola remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He told them that he could not see the bicyclist, and police have confirmed that lighting in the area was poor at the time.

Impairment is not believed to have been a factor at this time.
