LUFKIN, TX – Two people were killed in a crash on US-59 a half mile south of Lufkin on Sunday, reports Channel 3000.
According to the Department of Public Safety, a Ford F-350 blew a tire, causing it to stray into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a Dodge SUV, a Honda, and a Ford F-150.
A 13-year-old child who was an occupant of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another occupant of the Dodge was transported via airlift to a hospital in Houston, where she died from her injuries. She has been identified as 33-year-old Alicia Stephenson.
First responders hospitalized all four occupants of the Ford F-350 as well as the driver of the F-150.
The driver of the Honda was released by paramedics after being treated at the scene.
The incident is currently under investigation.
