News: Motorcyclist killed by alleged drunk driver on U.S. 290
HOUSTON, TX – An alleged drunk driver struck and killed a motorcyclist early Thursday morning, according to KTRK.
The possible DUI driver’s pickup truck rear-ended the motorcyclist on westbound U.S. 290 near Gessner Rd.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of the incident at around 1:30 a.m. They pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.
The driver of the pickup truck fled the area following the collision. They were apprehended a little while later by police due to the help of a “good Samaritan”. Police charged the driver with manslaughter and DUI.
Investigators shut down the freeway for several hours in order to try and determine the cause of the accident.
