HOUSTON, TX — A 69-year-old man was killed Sunday night after being struck by a marked HPD patrol vehicle near the Westwood neighborhood in southwest Houston, according to Houston Police Department.
The fatal crash took place at 10100 Bissonnet Street at around 9:15 p.m.
An HPD officer was driving a patrol car westbound on Bissonnet Street while pursuing a wanted suspect in another investigation. The male pedestrian was at a bus stop when he sudduenly crossed the main travel lanes of Bissonnet Street away from the crosswalk.
Police said the officer attempted to avoid the victim, but he was struck.
The man was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
An investigation into the incident remains underway as of Monday.
