HOUSTON, TX — Three women were injured early Monday morning after a car crashed into Brays Bayou near Chinatown in southwest Houston, according to ABC13.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Bellaire Boulevard and Wilcrest Drive and was first reported by ABC13 reporter Jeff Ehling at 4:35 a.m.
According to firefighters, witnesses saw the car speeding on Bellaire Boulevard before its driver turned north onto Wilcrest Drive and lost control. The vehicle appears to have traveled through a parking lot before overturning into Brays Bayou.
Two of the involved women were able to exit the partially submerged vehicle. A nearby witness stayed with the third woman until medics arrived.
Authorities said two of the victims did not sustain significant injuries, while the third victim suffered injuries requiring treatment but not considered life-threatening.
An investigation was underway to determine why the driver was speeding.
