HOUSTON, TX — A motorcyclist died early Saturday in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver near West Oaks Mall in west Houston, according to Click2Houston.
The fatal crash happened in the northbound lanes of Texas Highway 6 near Westheimer Road at around 2:30 a.m.
An investigation found that an older man was at the wheel of a Ford F-250 pickup truck when he made a U-turn on SH-6, merging onto a lane with oncoming traffic. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the pickup truck and truck the front of the vehicle.
Police said the rider died at the scene.
Authorities have reason to believe the truck driver was impaired at the time of the accident.
An investigation by Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division was underway as of Saturday morning.
