News: Man killed in crash while fleeing police in SW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 51-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after crashing his car into the back of a tow truck at high speed near the Shenandoah area in southwest Houston, according to Houston Police Department.

The crash happened at 7200 Hillcroft Avenue at approximately 1:25 p.m.

HPD officers had initially responded to 7100 Hillcroft Avenue after receiving reports of a man assaulting his wife, but the man had fled by the time they arrived.

The man was speeding northbound in a gray Honda Accord when he lost control of the car and rear-ended a black Ford F450 tow truck.

The man was taken to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center where he later died.

No injuries were reported to the driver of the tow truck.

The man’s wife was transported to a local hospital for injuries resulting from the earlier assault.

An investigation remained underway as of Tuesday.
