HOUSTON, TX — A man died last Tuesday, three days after being struck in a multi-vehicle collision while riding a bicycle in southwest Houston, according to Houston Police Department.
The incident occurred at 7900 Corporate Drive on August 28 at around 5:35 p.m.
A Chevrolet pickup truck was speeding northbound on the road when he swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle ahead. The truck then hit a Jeep Latitude entering Corporate Drive from an intersection. The impact of that crash sent the truck into the southbound lanes of Corporate Drive where it collided head-on with a Toyota Rav4. The truck then veered onto a westside sidewalk where it struck the bicyclist, causing the rider to fall and strike his head on the ground.
The rider was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
All other parties involved in the incident sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening.
The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He was determined to not have been impaired after an evaluation.
As of Tuesday, no charges have been filed. An investigation remained in progress.
