HOUSTON, TX — A woman died Sunday morning after a rear-end crash that hospitalized another near the Kempwood area in northwest Houston, according to LMTonline.
The crash happened on Hempstead Road near West 43rd Street at around 2:20 a.m.
A red Ford pickup truck was disabled on the road when it was struck by a Chrysler sedan, prompting the truck driver to leave the scene to get help. Shortly after, a maroon Dodge pickup truck slammed into the back of the Chrysler.
First responders arrived on scene to find a female passenger in the backseat dead as a result of the second crash.
Another female occupant in the front passenger seat was transported to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the Chrysler had fled the scene before the second crash.
The two collisions remain under investigation.
