HOUSTON, TX — A man was killed early Monday when he was struck by a speeding vehicle while riding a bicycle in northwest Houston’s Acres Homes area, according to Click2Houston.
The fatal crash happened in the 2800 block of West Little York Road, near Sylvester Turner Park, at approximately 2:30 a.m.
According to Houston police, the victim had lights on while riding a bicycle in the far right lane along the curb of the road while a white Toyota pickup truck was speeding nearby. At one point, the pickup struck the cyclist and veered off the road before hitting a pole near an apartment complex.
Authorities confirmed the cyclist died from his injuries at the scene.
The driver and a female occupant in the Toyota were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Police said both occupants displayed signs of impairment, and confirmed the driver will face a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
