HOUSTON, TX — A man died Sunday afternoon after a two-vehicle accident involving an HPD unit in north Houston’s Independence Heights neighborhood, according to KENS5.
Houston police said the crash happened in the 4600 block of North Shepherd Drive near Curtin Street at about noon.
A preliminary investigation shows the Houston Police Department unit SUV was traveling northbound on Shepherd when a Cadillac turned in its path, leading to the accident.
Authorities said the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The officer in the HPD vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Investigations by both the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the HPD were underway.
