HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A man died Sunday night in a single-vehicle accident near a shopping center in northeast Katy, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred in the 20000 block of Clay Road at around 6:17 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was driving eastbound in a 2001 Nissan Frontier pickup truck when he failed to maintain the second lane and veered into the first lane. His vehicle then continued off the roadway toward the center median and slammed into a tree.
Authorities said the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and died from his injuries at the scene.
No further details have been released on the cause of the fatal crash, but the case remains under open investigation by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division.
