HOUSTON, TX — A 45-year-old woman died early Saturday after a two-vehicle collision that injured two others near southeast Houston’s Astrodome area, according to Houston Police Department.
HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the crash happened in the 15000 block of Main Street at around 1:50 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was driving westbound in a black Ford Explorer when the vehicle either stopped or began traveling at a low speed. Shortly after, it was rear-ended by a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Medics rushed the victim to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Her passenger, a 48-year-old woman, was transported to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries, but was said to be in stable condition.
The driver of the F-150, a 47-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with a leg injury. Authorities said he answered questions, did not display signs of impairment, and consented to a blood test.
An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing. No charges have been filed as of this writing.
