Driver dies after single-vehicle crash in Kingwood residential area

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A 74-year-old man died Tuesday night after crashing a car into a light pole during a possible medical emergency near a Kingwood residence, according to Houston Police Department.

The accident took place in the 5300 block of Manor Glen Drive at around 5:20 p.m.

A preliminary investigation shows the victim was behind the wheel of a black Mazda CX7 going eastbound when he suffered a possible medical episode. Shortly after, the car ran to the left of the roadway where it collided with a light pole and came to a stop in a home’s front yard.

Medics rushed the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities said no other injuries were reported, and no other vehicles appear to have been involved.

An investigation by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division remains ongoing.
