HOUSTON, TX — A man died last Friday night after crashing his car into a tree while evading a traffic stop in Houston’s South Park neighborhood, according to Houston Police Department.

The incident occurred in the 8900 block of Coffee Street on November 5 at approximately 9:30 p.m.

According to HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, patrol officers attempted to pull over a green Dodge Charger in the 4600 block of Wilmington Street, but the male driver sped away. The officers then activated their emergency lights and began to pursue the driver.

Shortly after, the Charger collided with a tree along the northbound lanes of Coffee Street, causing the driver to eject. The Charger came to a rest against a Chevrolet pickup truck.

The driver of the Charger died from his injuries, confirmed authorities.
