Female pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A woman died early Sunday after being hit by a vehicle while walking in north Houston’s Hidden Valley area, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred in the 300 block of West Mount Houston Road at around 5:25 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking westbound in the westbound lane of the road when she was hit by a white late-model Ford Explorer traveling at high speed. The victim was sent into the ditch along the north side of the roadway, and the driver continued westbound, failing to stop and render aid.

Authorities confirmed the victim died from her injuries.

No further details have been released, but the sheriff’s office said the incident was recorded by a nearby business’s security camera.

The case is being handled by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division.
