HOUSTON, TX — A 60-year-old man died Sunday after suffering injuries in a pedestrian accident more than a week ago near the Northside Village area of Houston, according to Houston Police Department.
The incident took place at 2900 North Freeway (North Interstate 45) Service Road on October 6 at around 7:00 p.m.
HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said a white box truck was going southbound on the service road when its driver spotted a man walking in the center of the roadway. The driver switched to another lane, but the then the pedestrian moved into his path. The driver was unable to stop the vehicle in time and hit the man, knocking him onto the roadway.
Medics transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital. The man was later pronounced deceased at the hospital on Sunday, October 17, confirmed investigators.
The driver, a 45-year-old man, was evaluated at the scene and was released after authorities determined he was not impaired.
