HOUSTON, TX – A man was arrested after a suspected DUI collision that took the life of a bicyclist on Saturday morning.
According to KPRC, 60-year-old Hector Mario Saldarriga was struck while riding his bicycle on Galveston Road near the Ellington Airport. He was pronounced dead upon first responders’ arrival at the scene.
The driver police believe to be responsible for the crash, 37-year-old Crystal Reyes, immediately fled. She was stopped and taken into custody after almost hitting a patrol car nearby.
Reyes was charged with failure to stop and render aid and intoxication manslaughter. She has since posted $30,000 bail.
