HOUSTON, TX — A Harris County sheriff’s deputy was injured Sunday morning after a crash involving a horse on Sam Houston Tollway in south Houston, reports ABC13.
The incident occurred on the westbound lanes of the tollway near Martin Luther King Boulevard shortly before 5:00 a.m.
It is unclear what led up to the crash, or where the horse might have came from, but the deputy sustained minor injuries in what appears to be a single-vehicle crash.
The horse died as a result of the crash, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
All westbound lanes of the tollway around the area were closed as an investigation was conducted.
