News: Male pedestrian dies after being hit by car in north Baytown

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A man died early Friday after being struck by a vehicle near the Springfield Estates area in north Baytown, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision occurred in the 8500 block of Garth Road near E. Wallisville Road late Thursday, shortly before 11:53 p.m.

Investigators say the victim was walking north on the raised grassy median dividing the northbound and southbound lanes of Garth Road when he turned west, entering the road’s inside northbound lane. The victim was struck by a northbound 2019 Honda Civic, which threw him into the raised grassy median.

The man was transported by airlift to Memorial Hermann’s Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities said the driver of the Honda, who stayed at the scene, did not display signs of intoxication or impairment.

An investigation remains underway by the Vehicular Crimes Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
