HARRIS COUNTY, TX — Three homeless people were fatally struck Sunday night in a pair of crashes on Farm to Market Road 1960 near Humble, according to Houston Chronicle.
Deputies responded to the first fatal crash on FM 1960 eastbound at approximately 10:00 p.m.
The driver of a Chrysler 300 was traveling eastbound when a motorist ahead of them swerve around an obstruction in the road. The Chrysler driver was unable to swerve in time and struck two men who had been standing in the eastbound lanes.
The two men died at the scene.
The causing driver remained after the crash. Police said the driver did not appeared impaired.
Five minutes after the first collision, a traffic backup had built up in the westbound lanes near the first accident. A Jeep SUV trying to drive around traffic fatally struck a third man who was standing in the outside lanes.
The driver of the Jeep fled the scene.
No other updates have been shared by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on any leads to the suspect.
