HOUSTON, TX — A man died Saturday night after being hit by a marked patrol vehicle in Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood, according to Houston Police Department.
The fatal incident occurred in the 4100 block of Reed Road on December 4, at around 5:50 p.m.
According to HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, an HPD officer had his emergency lights activated as he drove westbound on the road to help with a police pursuit. At one point, his vehicle veered off the roadway and hit the male pedestrian. The vehicle then continued into a business parking lot, where it crashed into a trash dumpster.
Authorities said the unidentified pedestrian died from his injuries at the scene.
The case is being handled by HPD’s Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
