HOUSTON, TX – Police say that the driver responsible for a fatal rollover on the I-610 North Loop this morning was also injured in the crash, and may have been intoxicated at the time.
ABC 13 reports that the driver was speeding west on the freeway near McCarty Road at about 1:30 a.m. when they lost control of their SUV, which struck a guardrail and then overturned multiple times. A passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. He has not been identified at this time.
Police say that the driver, who was rushed to an area hospital, will likely live. They report that the individual smelled of alcohol, and are investigating further.
