UPDATE: Driver failed to stop before fatal train crash in east Houston

HOUSTON, TX — Authorities said Thursday that a driver failed to stop before a crash that killed a 19-year-old train conductor in east Houston, according to Houston Chronicle.

The findings come more than a month after the incident that occurred in the 1700 block of Federal Road on October 29, shortly after 4:00 a.m.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), surveillance footage from a nearby business shows a truck failing to stop before traveling across a railroad grade crossing. Moments later, the truck collided with the back of a train as it backed out along the tracks at below 10 miles per hour.

The conductor, who had been riding on the end platform of the first railcar, was pinned between the truck and the train. He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

Authorities have not released further information on the driver or any pending charges.
