HOUSTON, TX – Authorities have arrested a suspect for the fatal crash on the 6100 block of Westheimer Rd that claimed the lives of two pedestrians Sunday.
According to police, Donovan Donte Harris, 27, was speeding in a BMW 328i on westbound Westheimer St when he collided with two pedestrians crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk.
EMS crews were called to the scene around 9:20 p.m. They pronounced the two victims dead at the scene of the accident.
Harris stayed at the scene and cooperated with police following the collision. A passenger from the vehicle fled the area on foot.
Officers arrested Harris and charged him with intoxication manslaughter. Authorities will release the names of the two victims once family members are notified of their death.
