HOUSTON, TX — An 87-year-old woman died Tuesday, weeks after a speeding driver collided with an 18-wheeler on the North Loop East Freeway in northeast Houston, according to Houston Police Department.

The crash occurred on the 1600 block of the freeway’s (North IH-610 East) service road on October 15 at around 3:35 p.m.

According to HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, a man was driving a red Dodge Avenger east on the service road when he failed to control his speed. The Dodge hit the back of a white Kenworth 18-wheeler cab and trailer that was stalled at a red light at the Hardy Street intersection.
