HOUSTON, TX — A woman died early Sunday after she was struck by a vehicle while helping a sick passenger on the side of Interstate 10 in west Houston, reports Houston Chronicle.
The crash happened near the exit to North Kirkwood Road in Houston’s Memorial neighborhood at around 3:00 a.m.
Authorities said the woman was standing on the shoulder near a stopped white sedan when another vehicle rear-ended the sedan, sending her airborne.
She died from her injuries at the scene.
Two other passengers were reported to be in stable condition, though the extent of their injuries remain undisclosed.
The male driver of the causing vehicle admitted to authorities that he had been drinking, and will likely be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
