Fighting For You

Why is it important to take pictures after a car accident?

You did not even see it coming. Someone just blind-sided you and hit your car. After being in shock comes the realization that you must act. You escaped being injured, but there are things you should do after the accident.

Everyone has a cell phone. It is very common to have one. While it’s right not to use it while you drive, it’s a useful tool if you have been in a car accident. A cell phone with a camera can be vital in documenting every aspect of your accident.

The first thing you should do after an accident is to make sure everyone is all right, and no one is injured. Next, call the police and your insurance company. Then get your camera ready. The reason for taking photos is so vital is because these photos are evidence that the accident happened. The pictures also show how the accident occurred. The images will show the damage to both vehicles as well as visible injuries. Taking pictures gives insurance companies evidence of the accident scene.

What to take pictures of

If possible take photos of:

  • Any injuries you have
  • All of the vehicles involved in the accident
  • The other driver(s) or people involved in the crash including witnesses and passengers
  • The accident scene from different positions and angles
  • The other driver’s insurance card information and license plate
  • Close-ups of the actual exterior damage to all the vehicles involved in the accident
  • Damage on the inside of the vehicles
  • Road conditions, street signs and any weather conditions

If you are ever involved in a car accident, make sure that you get your camera ready. Taking pictures can be a vital tool in making sure your accident is adequately documented and remembered.
