Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Big Rig on N Loop W Fwy in NW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man died Thursday afternoon after being struck by an 18-wheeler on the North Loop Freeway in Houston’s Shepherd Forest neighborhood, according to ABC13.

The fatal incident occurred on the westbound lanes at TC Jester Boulevard shortly after 2:10 p.m.

Houston police said they had received a report of a male pedestrian on the freeway ramp. Shortly after, the man walked into the path of the big rig and was hit.

Footage captured at the scene shows skid marks on the roadway, indicating the driver’s attempt at avoiding the pedestrian.

Medics rushed the victim to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The event caused major traffic jams in the area as all main lanes on the westbound freeway were shut down.
