News update: More information on deadly crash on Westheimer Rd released

HOUSTON, TX – There have been new updates concerning the crash on Westheimer Rd Monday morning that claimed the lives of two people, reports KTRK.

Sometime Monday morning, a Ferrari was speeding on westbound Westheimer Rd between Chimney Rock Rd and Yorktown St when it struck the median, entered the eastbound lane, and collided with a Hyundai Elantra.

Footage taken from a video at the scene shows the Elantra flipped upside down on the roadway.

The 57-year-old female driver of the Elantra was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 44-year-old male driver of the Ferrari was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The names of the deceased have not been released at this time. The incident is under investigation by the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division.
