Elderly Patient Killed in Ambulance Crash on Main St Near SW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — An 84-year-old woman died Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision involving an ambulance in Houston’s South Main neighborhood, according to Click2Houston.

The accident took place in the 9900 block of South Main Street at around 2;40 p.m.

Houston Police said an ambulance was heading northbound with its lights and sirens activated when it was struck by a Toyota Camry at the intersection with the Interstate 610 South Loop service road. The impact of the crash caused the ambulance to overturn.

The victim, who was being transported in the ambulance with a life-threatening medical emergency, was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Authorities said multiple other occupants in the ambulance also suffered minor injuries.
