News: Intoxicated Off-Duty Officer Strikes, Injures Mother and Daughter in Seabrook

SEABROOK, TX – A woman whose vehicle was struck by an impaired off-duty police officer in June plans on filing a lawsuit against the responsible party, reports Click 2 Houston.

The crash happened in the 3400 block of NASA Pkwy on the night of June 5. Dana Schaub and her 26-year-old daughter, Sarah, were picking up a pizza when their Nissan was struck by a Ford F-150 driven by Tangie Beaton, 50.

Officers with the Seabrook Police Department questioned Beaton–who had been driving erratically prior to the crash–on how much she had to drink that evening. She claimed she did not remember. Officers also said Beaton was swaying while being questioned and was chewing mint gum, possibly in an attempt to mask the smell of alcohol on her breath.

Beaton was charged with a DUI and was fired from the police force on June 28th.

Schaub and her daughter say they have both experienced back and neck pain since the accident.
