HOUSTON, TX — An 8-year-old boy died two days after a two-vehicle crash early Friday morning in downtown Houston, according to Click2Houston.
The collision occurred at the St. Joseph Parkway and Chartres Street intersection at approximately 10:35 p.m.
The investigation indicates a 25-year-old man driving a black Dodge Challenger failed to stop at the red light and collided with a silver Honda Civic going westbound on St. Joseph Parkway. The impact of the crash caused the Honda to veer into a nearby utility pole.
The 8-year-old passenger in the Honda suffered a skull fracture and was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Authorities confirmed he died from his injuries on Sunday morning.
The boy’s parents, who were the two other occupants in the Honda, sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening.
The driver of the Dodge Challenger was not injured in the crash. He stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
An investigation remains underway.
