KATY, TX – A HCSO deputy may be responsible for a collision in which he received minor injuries Tuesday evening, reports Click2Houston.
The deputy was responding to a call around 6:30 p.m. when his squad car collided with a Chevrolet van in the intersection of Franz Road and North Mason Road. The officer was travelling westbound through a red traffic light on Franz Road with lights and sirens activated and the Chevy was southbound at the time of the collision.
The driver of the van was uninjured in the crash and the deputy was treated for only minor injuries at a hospital.
Investigators are still looking into the situation to determine who is at fault, but Houston County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Ramon Gutierrez said, “it appears the deputy may be at fault on this one.”
Investigators are still reviewing video evidence to determine which vehicle approached the intersection first and if the deputy’s vehicle was visible from the Chevy’s position at the time of the crash.
