HOUSTON, TX — Two people, including a young girl, died late Friday after a two-vehicle collision involving a hit-and-run driver in southwest Houston, according to ABC13.
The fatal crash happened in the 7100 block of South Gessner Road, near Neff Street, shortly before 8:40 p.m.
According to Houston police, the driver of a Camry had been at a stop sign and was attempting to cross the road when the car was struck by a speeding pickup truck.
Witnesses told authorities the driver of the pickup appeared disoriented as he got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Police said both the victim driver and a girl, believed to have been 8 or 9 years old, were ejected in the crash. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.
An investigation and search for the suspect driver was underway. Authorities believe he sustained serious injuries in the crash and that alcohol likely played a role.
