HOUSTON, TX — A man died Monday evening after a two-vehicle accident sent his car into a ditch in north Houston’s Mooney Heights neighborhood, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred in the 4300 block of Mooney Road at approximately 5:40 p.m.
According to investigators, the man was driving eastbound in a black 2012 Nissan Altima when he tried to pass a slower-moving vehicle on the right side. He drove off the roadway and onto the grass shortly before hitting the back right of a red 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck that was also traveling eastbound. The impact of the crash caused the man’s car to go into a ditch on the roadway’s south side, where he collided with a concrete driveway.
Medics rushed the victim to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
An investigation by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division was underway. No further information has been disclosed at this time.
