HOUSTON, TX — A male driver died Tuesday afternoon after a utility trailer crash that seriously injured a male pedestrian near the Vintage Lake area in northwest Houston, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened in the 15200 block of Vintage Preserve Parkway at approximately 2:40 p.m.
A black 2007 Cadillac CTS was heading north in the right lane on Vintage Preserve Parkway when it struck the back of a stopped 2017 American utility trailer. The trailer was attached to a 2020 Ford Transit 350 van operated by landscape workers. A worker who was outside the Ford filling gas into lawn equipment was struck by the front end of the trailer as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Cadillac died from his injuries, confirmed authorities.
The pedestrian was transported by airlift to Memorial Hermann Hospital – Texas Medical Center with serious injuries. His condition has not been disclosed.
Two other passengers who were seated inside the Ford during the crash were not reported injured.
The Sheriff’s Office said the hazard lights on the Ford and its trailer were activated while the workers were stopped.
An investigation determined the Cadillac driver had failed to control speed at the time of the accident.
