HOUSTON, TX — A 26-year-old woman suspected of DUI was arrested and charged after a fatal crash early Sunday on the North Freeway in north Houston, reports Houston Police Department.
The collision, which took the lives of two people, occurred in the 1400 block of the North Freeway at around 12:35 a.m.
Authorities said the suspect was driving a black Dodge Charger northbound in the southbound freeway when she collided with a black Kia Rio and a gray Kia Soul, both heading southbound.
Two occupants in the Kia Rio, a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, died from their injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Kia suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Authorities said the wrong-way driver also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized. She is now charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter after having displayed signs of impairment at the scene.
