HPD investigates fatal pedestrian accident in Greater Inwood

HOUSTON, TX — A 42-year-old man died last Friday after being struck by a driver while standing outside his disabled car in northwest Houston, reports The Leader.

Houston police said the fatal crash happened in the 7900 block of West Little York Road at about 4:00 a.m.

A preliminary investigation shows a disabled vehicle was blocking two eastbound lanes on the road when driver of a Nissan Rogue attempted to swerve out of the way. The Nissan then struck the driver of the stalled vehicle, who had been standing along edge of the roadway.

Authorities confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, a 24-year-old man, cooperated with police at the scene and was released.

As of Wednesday, no charges have been filed. Houston Police Department said the investigation remains in progress.
