HOUSTON, TX – A Houston police officer struck a man in a wheelchair in Spring Branch yesterday night, sending him to the hospital.
ABC 13 reports that the officer was eastbound in the 7700 block of Long Point Road at about 9 p.m. Wednesday when the pedestrian rolled into the street in front of him. Police say the officer attempted to avoid the man but could not.
Emergency responders took the victim to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
The victim was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision. Rainy conditions may also have been a factor.
