Man killed in crash involving two 18-wheelers near Sonora

SUTTON COUNTY, TX — A 32-year-old Houston man died early Monday after a tractor-trailer collided with his semi-truck on Interstate 10 near Sonora, according to FOX West Texas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred on a stretch of I-10 eight miles west of Sonora at around 5:20 a.m.

An early investigation indicates one 18-wheeler was towing a semitrailer eastbound on the interstate when it veered into a guardrail. The truck then continued into the westbound lanes where it hit an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The driver of the second truck died from his injuries at the scene. Authorities indicated on the DPS report that he had not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the first 18-wheeler was not reported injured.
