KATY, TX – A young man was killed and another was taken into custody following a deadly street-racing accident in Katy on Wednesday afternoon, reports Click 2 Houston.
The incident occurred in the 22300 block of Clay Road near the Grand Parkway at around 5:30 p.m.
A Ford Mustang was racing against a Chevy Camaro, which slammed into a tanker truck as it turned into a gas station. The Camaro’s driver died at the scene.
The Ford’s driver avoided the truck but hit a median instead. He then performed a U-turn and returned to the scene of the accident. He told officers that he was racing the victim and that he was friends with them as well. Officers arrested the man and charged him with racing involving death. He has been identified as Oluwatise Gbadebo, 20.
The Vehicular Crimes Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
