HOUSTON, TX – One person died as the result of a suspected DWI crash in southwest Houston on Sunday morning, KTRK reports.
The crash occurred at about 4 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway, near the Bissonnet Street overpass.
Investigators say the driver of a black pickup truck collided with a large utility pole. The truck then skidded back into the main lanes of the freeway where it was struck by a second vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The driver of the pickup did not suffer any serious injuries.
Police believe the driver of the pickup may have been impaired when the crash occurred. Intoxication manslaughter charges are pending at this time.
