AUSTIN COUNTY, TX — An 89-year-old Jasper man died Monday afternoon after a crash involving an 18-wheeler and seven other vehicles near San Felipe, according to KJAS.
The collision occurred on the eastbound lanes of I-10 between San Felipe and Sealy shortly before 2:00 p.m.
Few details have been released at this time, but authorities say the crash happened over a stretch of the road that was under construction. The chain of events started when a tire blew out and the driver exited their vehicle, leaving it in the roadway.
The victim was transported to a hospital in Katy, where he died from his injuries soon after.
Three other occupants in his vehicle were not injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has not yet disclosed a complete report of the accident.
