HOUSTON, TX — A man died Sunday morning after he was struck by a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 59 in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The fatal accident took place on the southbound lanes of US-59 (Southwest Freeway,) approaching Sam Houston Tollway at around 6:20 a.m.
A white Jeep Grand Cherokee was stopped in a travel lane due to engine trouble. Police say the driver exited the vehicle and walked to the passenger’s side, where he was struck by an oncoming Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge remained after the crash and did not appear to be intoxicated and consented to a mandatory blood draw.
No charges have been filed against the driver as of Monday.
