HOUSTON, TX — A 17-year-old girl died early Wednesday after crashing her car and falling over a Sam Houston Tollway flyover near Houston’s Greater Greenspoint, according to ABC13.
The events unfolded at the Sam Houston Tollway and North Freeway interchange shortly after midnight.
Houston police received a call from a passerby about the teen’s major single-vehicle crash, leaving her car disabled in the flyover lanes.
Witnesses say they believe the girl may have been disoriented and confused when she exited her vehicle and went over the barrier wall in an attempt to avoid freeway traffic.
The victim likely did not know there was a drop on the other side of the wall, according to authorities. She died on impact after her fall.
No further information has been released at this time.
