HOUSTON, TX — At least one person was hospitalized early Friday after a wrong-way crash on the North Freeway near Houston’s Independence Heights neighborhood, according to KHOU11.
The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of the freeway near the Crosstimbers Street exit shortly before 2:00 a.m.
According to Houston police, officers attempted to catch up with a wrong-way driver after seeing a vehicle travel north in the southbound lanes, but the driver crashed head-on into another car.
Authorities indicated at least one person was transported to a nearby hospital, but did not say whether that person was the causing driver or the victim party. No further details have been released on their condition.
The event caused all lanes on the freeway to close for part of Friday morning.
