HOUSTON, TX — A man was killed late Thursday night after being struck twice while walking his bicycle across Eastex Freeway in northeast Houston, reports KHOU11.
The collision occurred in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Hopper Road shortly after 11:30 p.m.
An investigation indicates one car struck the pedestrian as he crossed the main travel lanes. A second car veered to avoid hitting the victim but collided with his bicycle. Moments later, the victim was hit a second time by a work truck.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
All involved drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, who did not suspect any of them of impairment.
An investigation remains in progress, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. No charges have been filed as of Friday morning.
