HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking on Farm to Market Road 1960 in northwest Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the fatal incident occurred in the 3300 block of the road, near a shopping center, at around 2:20 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was either walking in the road or trying to cross moving lanes when he failed to yield to the right of way of an eastbound vehicle and was subsequently hit.

First responders arrived to find the victim deceased at the scene.

The driver appeared to have fled the scene, failing to stop and render aid.

At this time, no further details have been released on the victim or the suspect.

An investigation by the HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division remains underway.
